On April 6th, 2020, Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) Library hosted a 14-days online review of the book ‘Remarkable Leadership by Kevin Eikenberry for library users, an idea which was inspired by the need to engage students in productive academic activities amidst the COVID-19 induced break and lockdown across the world.

The book REMARKABLE LEADERSHIP was published in 2007; with sixteen chapters revealing that everyone on earth is born with a “tool” to becoming a leader, describing who remarkable leaders are, how they are made, their competencies and impact, with self-assessment and remarkable principles in every chapter which help readers to reflect positively in the journey of becoming remarkable leaders.

The book is divided into two parts; chapters one to three looking at leadership in us as individuals, bundle of innate abilities, leadership development in real world, and how to get the most out of the book. Chapters four to sixteen covered thirteen competencies of remarkable leaders which are:
·
  1.       Remarkable leaders learn continually
  2. ·        Remarkable leaders champion change.
  3. ·        Remarkable leaders communicate powerfully
  4. ·        Remarkable leaders build relationships
  5. ·        Remarkable leaders develop others
  6. ·        Remarkable leaders focus on the customers
  7. ·        Remarkable leaders influence with impact
  8. ·        Remarkable leaders think and act innovatively
  9. ·        Remarkable leaders value collaboration and teamwork
  10. ·        Remarkable leaders solve problems and make decisions
  11. ·        Remarkable leaders take responsibility and are accountable
  12. ·        Remarkable leaders manage projects and processes successfully
  13. ·        Remarkable leaders set goals and support goal achievement
It is worthy to note that this books holds great lessons, and with each of the competencies of remarkable leadership thoroughly reviewed, questions asked and contributions made by members of the book club, a unanimous conclusion was reached - that ‘Action is the way to go’.
