FACTS ABOUT WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY

The first ever World Book Day in the world took place on the 23 April 1995. The connection between 23 April and books was first made in 1923 by booksellers in Spain as a way to honor the author Miguel de Cervantes who died on that day. UNESCO decided that on this date the World Book and Copyright Day should be celebrated because of the Catalonian festival and because the date is also the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare and some other authors. Nowadays the World Book and Copyright Day is observed in over 100 countries, where schools, private businesses, voluntary organizations and lots of more people and groups come together to pay a tribute to authors and books. According to Wikipedia, Sweden , normally celebrated on 23 April, it was moved to 13 April in the year 2000 and 2011 to avoid a clash with Easter. HOW TO SPOT FAKE NEWS

According to Collins Dictionary, Fake News is defined as "false, often sensational, information disseminated under the guise of news reporting.” Technology and the influx of information has made it easier for false information to look factual. Library users must therefore learn to identify and evaluate the trustworthiness of information sources so as not to be misled to taking wrong decisions. "One key trend in relation to fake news is the increasing number of people who now take their news from digital sources – not just from news sites but many other sources including social media... It is clear there has been a major shift in where people obtain their information, how they perceive its accuracy, and where they feel that they can obtain information that they trust." - Martyn Wade. HIGHLIGHTS OF ONLINE BOOK REVIEW BY ADUN LIBRARY LUMINARY LEADERS BOOK CLUB

ADUN Library Luminary Leaders Book Club is a reading group consisting of library users who are either fascinated by books or determined to develop a good reading habit that can be reflected on their academic pursuit. Interested members/students usually meet in the library regularly to learn, explore and connect . The activities of the club includes: ΓΌ        Book Reviews , Shared and Independent Reading Writing,  Group/Collaborative Study, etc. On April 6th, 2020, Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) Library hosted a 14-days online review of the book ‘Remarkable Leadership by Kevin Eikenberry for library users, an idea which was inspired by the need to engage students in productive academic activities amidst the COVID-19 induced break and lockdown across the world.
