ADMIRALTY UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA HOSTS VIRTUAL SPEECH PRESENTATION ON COVID-19 REALITY


The Admiralty University of Nigeria on Friday, 26th June, 2020 hosted a Virtual Speech Presentation, which was coordinated by staff of the Students’ Affairs Unit.


The Vice Chancellor in his opening remarks congratulated the 6 speakers who were selected randomly from various departments of the University and emphasized the importance of the Virtual Speech Presentation organized by the Students' Affairs Unit. In his words, “You can have the best brain in the world, but if you are not able to articulate or express yourself effectively, you will indeed be underselling that very immaculate and powerful brain that you have in your head. Speech presentation is a formidable factor in the development of luminary leadership.”

The Speakers spoke on two vital topics as related to the present pandemic, which has shut down businesses and closed down schools all over the world: (1) COVID-19 reality: Managing it after the lockdown in relation to campus life and (2) COVID-19 Reality: Merits and demerits of online education during the pandemic. Each of the speakers were given 8 minutes to speak on one of the topics, and their presentations covered issues that bothers on – How the virus spreads, managing the lockdown, life in campus after the lockdown, challenges of online learning, Social distancing, need for sanitizers and hand washing items at strategic points in the University campus upon resumption, etc.





The virtual presentation which lasted for 1hour 30 minutes was moderated by the University Library Coordinator, Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu, with vote of thanks delivered by the Dean of Students’ Affairs Assoc. Prof. Chinelo Nwokolo who appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji for his support, all who participated online, staff present at the staging area for the event, including the judges of the event - Mr. Ediri Akpomeyoma (Ag. University Bursar) and Dr. Dominic Okure for their input in reviewing the presentations.

ADMIRALTY UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA COMMISSIONS A 100% INTERNALLY FABRICATED FOOT-PEDALLED HAND-WASHING MACHINE

The Vice Chancellor and President of the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Ibusa Ogwashi-Uku Delta State, Professor Paul Omojo Omaji, on Thursday 7th, May 2020 commissioned a hand washing machine to help curb the spread of COVID-19. The machine project is to encourage healthy living through frequent washing of hands, as staff and visitors come to the University following the partial lifting of lockdowns. The device, installed at the University gate and christened ‘VISA INTO ADUN COUNTRY’, is intended for use by every visitor to, or returning member of the University community. This, in addition to an infrared temperature check at the gate, is part of the now established mandatory protocols before access is allowed into the University Campus.
