COCKTAIL PARTY IN HONOUR OF PROFESSOR JAMES ROBINSON

COCKTAIL PARTY IN HONOUR OF PROFESSOR JAMES ROBINSON

It was colorful, exciting and glamour all the way at Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) on Wednesday evening, when the Registrar (Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik (Rtd.) Phd) on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji, received the Guest Lecturer, Professor James Robinson and his wife at a cocktail party held at the administrative building lobby. The cocktail party was held in honor of Prof Robinson who will deliver the University’s 5th lecture tomorrow.

Present at the occasion were Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Coordinators and HODS of the University, the Chairman Awards, Honours and Ceremonies Committee - Prof. D. Omoweh, Wife of the Vice Chancellor – Mrs. Alice Omaji, Representatives of the NDLEA, Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-uku Librarian – Dr. Alex Obuh and many others.

Commodore Mankilik in his brief remarks stated that “Though we are a young institution, we have dreams - not just dreams, but big dreams.” He further stated: “We look for the best brains around the world so that they can tell us how they are dreaming. We went into the ocean and caught a big fish in the name of James Robinson. Let him tell us how he dreamt his dreams.” While concluding his remarks, the Registrar noted that Nigerians must begin to believe in their Country and also believe in reclaiming what really belongs to us as Africans because civilization started here.

Responding, Professor James Robinson expressed his delight to be present amongst members of ADUN Community. According to him, he came here for two reasons: personal and intellectual. Personal, because he has worked in Africa but it has taken him long to get to Nigeria. However, his Father worked in Nigeria as an Engineer for twenty years. Intellectual, because the intellectual life of Nigeria is incredible. What excites him is that in Nigeria, we have a lot of challenges and we still manage to maintain our institutions and intellectual life.

Towards the end of the event, the Dean, Faculty of Science, Professor I. J. Dioha while giving his vote of thanks appreciated everyone that honoured the Vice Chancellor’s invitation and wished them journey mercies as they returned to their destinations.

It is hoped that all participants will have an academic jolly lecture on the 12th of August, 2021 at the University’s Multipurpose Hall on the topic: “Africa’s Latent Assets”.

The visit to both libraries was an eye opener as the Library team was enlightened on processes and technologies used in effective library management and service delivery. The visit to DSPG Library was a fruitful one as the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Alex Obuh and his HOD, Library Science, Mrs Ayobi Grace received with joy the ADUN Library Team. The Polytechnic Librarian stressed on the need for such gestures to be sustained in order to collabora...

HOW CAN LUMINARY LEADERS MANAGE THEIR TIME?

HOW CAN LUMINARY LEADERS MANAGE THEIR TIME? By: Admiralble AYA, Eneneaseh Offu, Software Engineering Student, Admiralty University of Nigeria, Delta State. Humans tend to waste a lot of things, such as food, electricity, money, water, tissue paper, etc. Funny enough, one would say, these are material things and they can be always recovered. One can get them anywhere through different kind of means, but come to think of it, the worst thing a man should waste is ‘ TIME ’. Time is Precious. In the context of this article, time wastage simply means 'devotion of time to an unnecessary activity or idleness, as a result of procrastination. As the popular saying goes, time wasted can never be recovered no matter what. The difference between time waste and material waste is that there is no salvage for a wasted time but there’s salvage for material waste. You can throw away your food today and get another tomorrow, you can waste your money today and still work to get another one, but on...
