ADUN VC Holds Town Hall Meeting with Staff Members:
Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN)
has witnessed a historic moment as the second substantive Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubisi Ogbogbo, hosted the first-ever town hall meeting with the university’s staff.
The event took place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Dele Ezeoba Multipurpose Hall, and was an important opportunity for open dialogue and mutual understanding between the management and staff.
The meeting began with an opening address by the university’s Registrar, Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik, PhD (Rtd), who welcomed all staff members in attendance.
He noted that since Professor Ogbogbo assumed office over eight weeks ago, he has been actively engaging with stakeholders across the country and neighboring communities.
The purpose of this continued outreach, as emphasized by the Registrar, was to ensure that the Vice Chancellor interacts directly with ADUN’s staff, which led to the organization of this significant town hall meeting.
In his address, Professor Ogbogbo expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedication to the university’s progress and success.
He highlighted the university’s motto, “Onward together, onward to greatness,” and encouraged the staff to adopt a mindset that aligns with global best practices.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the key to making ADUN globally relevant is through strong foundations and a commitment to growth.
One of the major points raised during the meeting was the evolution of ADUN.
As the Vice Chancellor pointed out, the university is no longer a private institution and must operate with the procedures and expectations of a public university.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to these processes as a means of ensuring the institution’s sustainable growth.
Addressing staff behavior, Professor Ogbogbo urged faculty and staff members to rid the university of issues such as tardiness and complacency, stressing the importance of professionalism and commitment in everyday duties.
Additionally, he encouraged ADUN scholars to pursue rigorous, internationally recognized research, stating that the university would support staff who publish in Grade-A journals.
The Vice Chancellor also announced plans to launch the ADUN Roundtable, an initiative that will engage societal issues and provide a platform for finding solutions.
The Roundtable is expected to bring together thought leaders from various fields, offering ADUN an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping national discourse.
Several key issues were discussed, including the management of university funds, misconceptions about staff welfare, and the filtering of ADUN-related information on the internet. The meeting provided an open forum for staff to ask questions, share concerns, and offer suggestions.
The Vice Chancellor reassured staff that management is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure and academic resources to enhance the learning and working environment at ADUN.
The session’s interactive question-and-answer segment was a highlight, as staff members seized the opportunity to engage directly with the Vice Chancellor.
This open exchange of ideas underscored ADUN’s commitment to transparency and collaboration.
As ADUN continues to grow and evolve under the leadership of Professor Ogbogbo, this town hall meeting marks an important milestone in fostering a culture of inclusivity, mutual respect, and shared responsibility in the university community.
