ADUN LIBRARY MARKS NIGERIAN NAVY AT 70 WITH COMMUNITY BOOK OUTREACH

In celebration of the Nigerian Navy’s 70th Anniversary, the Emeritus Professor Augustine Esogbue Library, Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), under the leadership of Navy Commander Adeyemi Emmanuel Ameobi, will on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, carry out another phase of its ongoing Book Rhapsody outreach initiative.

The outreach will hold at:
* Umuokwe Primary School, Aboh Ogwashi-Uku
* Aboh Mixed Comprehensive Secondary School, along Ibusa Road

This initiative reflects the Vice Chancellor, Prof. C.B.N. Ogbogbo’s continued support for community engagement, educational advancement, and the strengthening of town-and-gown relationships through meaningful institutional outreach.

Over the past few weeks, the Library has continued to extend book support and learning resources to schools and institutions across different communities including Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, Asaba, Agbor, Issele-Azagba, Sapele, and Warri. Some educational materials have also been made available to members of staff and partner institutions as part of the broader knowledge-sharing effort.

Beneficiary institutions within this period include schools such as Federal College of Education (Technical) and its Demonstration Schools, Asaba; Salvation Excellent Group of Schools, Agbor; Perfect Splendor Schools, Ogwashi-Uku; Goal Getters Montessori School, Ibusa; FGGC Staff School, Ibusa; Great Favour Montessori School, Issele-Azagba, Ogiame Primary school Warri (facilitated by NNS Delta, Warri), among others.

Many of the donated materials were drawn from collections and contributions associated with the Library’s benefactor, Emeritus Professor Augustine Esogbue, including resources from BAFA-supported book consignments that continue to support literacy and learning initiatives.

In response to the unfortunate fire incident at Kano State Polytechnic Library, the ADUN Library also contributed book materials following the call made by the President of the Nigerian Library Association, Dr. Lawal Umar, for support and solidarity.

Beyond donations, Book Rhapsody reflects the Library’s belief that access to books and learning resources remains an important part of educational growth and community development. The initiative also continues to create opportunities for collaboration between the University and its host communities.

Tomorrow’s outreach forms part of that continuing commitment.
