On Thursday, 28th March 2025, the Emeritus Prof. Augustine Esogbue Admiralty University of Nigeria Library of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) held its quarterly in-house staff training at the Main University E-Library. The session aimed to strengthen ADUN Library values, operations, and technology, reinforcing the role of libraries in the academic ecosystem.
The training commenced with an opening prayer led by Mr. Modestus Esogbwe, followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu (Chairman of the Library Consultation and Training Committee), highlighting the significance of continuous learning and upskilling among library staff.
The main presentation was divided into two key parts:
Part A: User-Centric Service and Professional Ethicsβ Delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) G.N. Onyia (University Librarian). This session emphasized the importance of ethical conduct and maintaining a user-friendly approach in library services.
Part B: Familiarization with ADUN Library Values, Operations, Procedures, and Integrated Technology (Koha, etc.) β Facilitated by Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu and Mr. Emuesiri Etagbedavwe, this section focused on the foundational values of Library, the technological advancements, particularly the integration of Koha software and need for sustenance of the culture of excellence.

An interactive session followed, allowing participants to engage in discussions, ask questions, and seek clarifications. This session promoted knowledge-sharing and teamwork among library staff.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. George Onwueme, appreciating the committee, resource persons, and participants for their contributions. The closing prayer was led by Mr. Emmanuel Ohwofasa.
The training reinforced the belief that "There is no progress until you are updating yourself," as rightly stated by the University Librarian Furthermore, the session underscored the importance of continuous learning, as "Knowledge is the currency of the generation we have today."
The quarterly in-house staff training was a resounding success, equipping library staff with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their service delivery. As ADUN continues its pursuit of excellence, these training sessions serve as a catalyst for professional growth and institutional development.
