A TOUR OF THE SACRED SHRINE OF THE LUMINARY LEADERS LIBRARY

By: Edeh Abraham Ifechukwu (KultureCraft)

Friday, the 28th day of June, 2025, glowed differently at Admiralty University of Nigeria.  Just like every other morning, the sun adorned herself in elegance and sat beautifully in the sky over the campus to reflect her light and peace around the citadel that has been setting the pace over the years.. The atmosphere was quiet, peaceful, and astonishingly beautiful. However, my journey around the school today wasn't the usual journey into lecture halls and staff offices, it was a journey into the sacred shrine of the luminary leaders - the library.

The first place we entered was the general library, and from outside, one could see the walls carefully painted in white and blue, a colour that was not just beautiful, but also exhaled calmness and applauded inspiration and perfection. Another striking sight outside was an inscription that glowed just a  few inches to the roof. It was a name, perhaps, of the person to whom the library was dedicated: Emeritus Prof. Augustine Esogbue Library.

On entering the building, the first sight to behold was the library lounge and the information desk that stood just behind it. The library lounge was comfortable and relaxing, and the information table was manned by  librarians whose warm smiles and professional poise made knowledge feel accessible. To me, they didn't look like workers, they looked like disciplined custodians of an academic shrine.

The main library hall was nothing short of perfection, intentionality and professionalism. The shelves stood beautifully, carrying books that smelled of knowledge, intellect, and guide to unlocking academic excellence. Each row whispered possibilities and greatness. The seats were well arranged and the whole environment felt like a nudge to feel safe and explore. The entire library pointed out that silence was not emptiness but a classroom without walls. Personally, I felt like a sojourner who found the shortest route to his destination.

We left the general library and continued our tour.

We moved further to the faculty of law building and proceeded to the first floor where we met a door that has the inscription: Law library. On entering there, I felt an unusual rhythm in my heart's pulse – steady, deep, and aligning with the the heartbeat of the legal elites who had been there before me. The atmosphere carried an unusual aura, unlike the general library, this one bore a kind of sacred formality and connected deeply with my soul. Almost every soul in sight, wore either black or white, a colour code that displayed exceptional discipline, clarity, and purpose.

The shelves in this library  carried heavier books, and each row glowed with intention. Infact, the silence here was heavier, more authoritative. We moved further to a room which was demarcated by an opened door, it was the E-library section of the law library.

The E-library section of the law library was mind-blowing. It symbolized modern academic system. The computers which sat smartly on various desks also carried verified learning resources, legal databases and reliable scholarly material. The digital librarians here were also equipped and ready to impact on everyone who encountered them.

During this tour, a particular sentence from a former vice chancellor of the university that was quoted by the E-library guide, kept ringing in my head. He said, "You can measure your brilliance by walking into a library and counting how many books you've read on the shelf." Those words really nudged me, and reshaped a part of my mind.

Conclusively, the tour around the general library and the law library of the Admiralty University of Nigeria was an eye opener. It made me understand that the library was not just a building, but a ladder that does not discriminate. A map that only leads forward, and  that the future belongs to those who honor the quiet places where greatness begins.
