A TOUR OF THE SACRED SHRINE OF THE LUMINARY LEADERS LIBRARY

By: Edeh Abraham Ifechukwu (KultureCraft) Friday, the 28th day of June, 2025, glowed differently at Admiralty University of Nigeria.  Just like every other morning, the sun adorned herself in elegance and sat beautifully in the sky over the campus to reflect her light and peace around the citadel that has been setting the pace over the years.. The atmosphere was quiet, peaceful, and astonishingly beautiful. However, my journey around the school today wasn't the usual journey into lecture halls and staff offices, it was a journey into the sacred shrine of the luminary leaders - the library. The first place we entered was the general library, and from outside, one could see the walls carefully painted in white and blue, a colour that was not just beautiful, but also exhaled calmness and applauded inspiration and perfection. Another striking sight outside was an inscription that glowed just a  few inches to the roof. It was a name, perhaps, of the person to whom the librar...

It was the launch of the Wiki in School Nigeria Program 2025 , a nationwide initiative supported by the Wikimedia Foundation   (UG)  Nigeria bringing together students and staff to create content on Wikipedia . What Is the Wiki in School Program? Wiki in School is a program where selected lecturers from Nigerian universities are trained to guide their students in editing and creating content on Wikipedia. Since Wikipedia is one of the most visited websites in the world, this project gives Nigerian students a chance to share their local knowledge on a global platform. For us at ADUN, it has been a special experience. We're not just learning how to edit Wikipedia, we’re learning how to writ...

A FACULTY LIBRARY PROVIDES SPECIALIZED SERVICES FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

When many people think of university libraries, what comes to their mind is a big building located somewhere strategic or central in the university, filled with books and quiet spaces to study. Even though that’s not far from the truth, it is only part of the picture, because there is another often overlooked component that makes university libraries important, and it is the Faculty Library. At Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), a Faculty Library is not just created for extension sake, but our faculty libraries are integrated with the main library and equipped to deliver the same level of services the user community enjoys when they visit the main library. One peculiar thing about a faculty library is that the collections are tailored to the peculiar needs of each of the academic programmes in that faculty. The Role of a Faculty Library in Academic Success The purpose of a Faculty Library is to provide better library services and bring information resources closer to the people w...

The meeting began with an opening address by the university’s Registrar, Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik, PhD (Rtd), who welcomed all staff members in attendance.  He noted that since Professor Ogbogbo assumed office over eight weeks ago, he has been actively engaging with stakeholders across the country and neighboring communities.  The purpose of this continued outreach, as emphasized by the Registrar, was to ensure that the Vice Chancellor interacts directly with ADUN’s staff, which led ...
